What does Joint Commitment do for Runners?

At Joint Commitment, we understand that running places repeated demands on the feet, ankles, knees, hips and lower back. Changes in training load, terrain, footwear, recovery or running technique may contribute to discomfort and sport specific injuries. We assess early warning signs and relevant risk factors so that care and preventative advice can be tailored to your individual needs.

Our clinical knowledge of biomechanics, applied anatomy and physiology allows us to look beyond the area of pain and consider how the whole body moves. We assess joint mobility, muscle function, movement control and patterns of compensation that may affect running efficiency. These findings help us develop an individual plan that may combine osteopathic care, practical guidance and targeted rehabilitation.

Whether you are new to running, preparing for an event, managing recurring discomfort or returning after injury, our aim is to help you run more comfortably, confidently and consistently while supporting your long term musculoskeletal health.

We incorporate thorough clinical diagnostics into all our osteopathic sessions and utilise advanced equipment such as diagnostic ultrasound for improved clarity and accuracy in diagnoses. We believe this is absolutely crucial for tailoring treatment specifically to meet your individual needs.

Collaborative support and referrals

Where further investigation or additional support would be beneficial, Joint Commitment can work alongside private medical imaging services and other professionals, including nutritionists and personal trainers with experience in athletic performance. This coordinated approach helps bring imaging, rehabilitation, training and recovery considerations together around your individual needs and running goals.

Achilles tendon screening for running clubs

By arrangement, we can provide group Achilles tendon screening sessions for established running clubs. Point of care ultrasound can be used alongside clinical assessment to examine the tendon and identify features that may warrant closer monitoring or changes to training and recovery. Runners receive immediate findings and clear guidance on appropriate next steps, helping clubs take a proactive approach to tendon health.
